The Rubicon 2025 marathon has officially begun. The nearly 500-kilometer race started at the Arch of Triumph in Bucharest and will conclude at the Arch of Triumph in Chisinau. Around 300 runners, including children, gathered at the starting line, IPN reports.
According to the organizers, the race will last 52 hours and will pass through five counties in Romania and five districts in Moldova. Participants will have the chance to win dozens of medals in both daytime and nighttime stages, each with varying levels of difficulty.
The Rubicon ultramarathon is now in its eighth edition. The first six editions took place in Moldova, and starting from the seventh edition, it became a transnational marathon.
The event is organized by the Public Association Sports Club "SPORTER," in partnership with the Romanian Federation "Sport for All," the Ministry of Education and Research of Moldova, and the National Sports Agency.
