Following the victory of Liberal Dorin Chirtoaca in Chisinau mayor’s race, Romanian Prime-Minister Calin Popescu Tericeanu will pay a visit to Chisinau, Secretary General of the Romanian National Liberal Party (PNL), Dan Motreanu announces. According to “Jurnal National” newspaper, quoted by Info-Prim Neo, Dan Motreanu says that the victory of Liberal Chirtoaca was not a surprise, it was an expectation. The result shows, on the one hand, that the liberalism in Moldova, as a doctrine, which promotes the individual and his freedoms, is still a modern doctrine that can foster change. On the other hand, this result is a sign for the entire Republic of Moldova, which points to the change of the old structures and mentalities that have dominated for decades, Motreanu says. Motreanu hopes that the liberal forces in Moldova will unite, having all the conditions to grow stronger and to have a good result in the 2009 parliamentary elections. Next week, a number of representatives from the local administration of PNL, together with the mayor of Bacau, Romeo Stavrache, will visit Chisinau to share their experience in the public administration. Also, the leader of PNL and the prime-minister of Romania, Calin Popescu Tariceanu, could come to Chisinau to discuss with the mayor and to inform him about the possibilities that the Liberal International has for supporting him. “PNL will support him, both doctrinally and technically in what concerns the administration of a community and attraction of funds for the community he represents”, the quoted source said.
