Experts from Romania welcomed the victory of the pro-European parties in the parliamentary elections of Moldova. In the duplex Publika TV – Realitatea TV Bucharest, they voiced hope that these parties will not betray the trust of the people who voted for them, IPN reports.

Foreign policy expert Vlad Nistor said things seem rather simple as long as the two left parties hold 46 seats of MP, while the pro-European parties have a comfortable majority. “Judging by the developments, I don’t think that the PSRM and PCRM will form an alliance and, even if they form it, they will anyway not have a majority. This is favorable to the pro-European parties. As regards a possible coalition between the pro-European parties and the PCRM, in this case there is only one important moment – the election of the head of state,” he stated.

For his part, foreign policy expert Iulian Chifu, presidential adviser, called on the pro-European parties that entered Parliament to make effort for the people to feel the European integration in their lives. “In Moldova, there is a shortage of personalities and the leaders of the three pro-European parties cannot improve their image. The Free Trade Agreement implies serious reforms. The parties that entered Parliament broadly represent society. Thus, the debates on the people’s problems will be held in the legislature, not in the street,” he said.

Romanian journalist Rares Bogdan said he was unpleasantly surprised by the choice of the Moldovan voters from Romania. “19% of the Moldovan electors voted for the Communists and the Socialists. It’s inadmissibly considerable for one fifth of the Moldovans who voted in Romania to support the pro-Russian parties,” he stated.
