Romania supports the South-European path which Moldova could undertake in the process of the European integration by going along with the countries from the region, in this way favoring the European option, the Ambassador of Romania in Chisinau, Filip Teodorescu stated on Wednesday, November 29 at a press conference on the occasion of the National Day of Romania.
In light of Romania’s accession to the European family and of its foreign and regional policies’ priorities, the Romanian ambassador mentioned that the support offered by Romania to Moldova in this respect will have a special meaning, because the relations between the two states can only be based on privileged partnership and collaboration.
Filip Teodorescu declared that Moldova remains a favorite issue for Romania, fact which is proved by its willing to see Moldova in the EU, supporting by all possible means its integration process.
According to the diplomat, the economic relations between the two banks of the Prut River will not suffer after January 1, 2007. By the end of 2006 it is expected that the amount of bilateral trade will reach USD 456 mln.
At the moment, 2439 joint Moldovan-Romanian companies are working in Romania having a total invested capital of about USD 18 mln.
