Romania and the Republic of Moldova on May 20 signed an agreement between the governments of the two states on the regulation of building of water pipelines. The agreement offers the legal framework needed for a company from Romania to build underground water pipelines crossing the Prut for supplying drinking water from Iasi County of Romania to the Moldovan districts of Nisporeni, Ungheni, Glodeni and Fălești, IPN reports.

According to the Embassy of Romania in Moldova, the agreement refers to: Măcărești (Romania) – Măcărești (Republic of Moldova), Sculeni (Romania) – Sculeni (Republic of Moldova), Ungheni (Romania) – Ungheni (Republic of Moldova) and to the area near Tabăra (Romania).

The document was signed for the Government of Romania by Romania’s Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to the Republic of Moldova Daniel Ioniță and for the Government of the Republic of Moldova by secretary of state at Ministry of Agriculture, Regional Development and Environment Gennady Yurko. The signing ceremony was held in Chisinau.
