Twenty Moldovan educational institutions will be outfitted with digital equipment thanks to the Romanian Government’s support, IPN reports. In the handover ceremony, Minister of Education and Research Anatolie Topală said the support provided by the Government of Romania to Moldova is huge. In education, great emphasis is currently placed on the introduction and use of information technology, IPN reports.

“Through this project, 20 institutions in our country will receive a donation in the form of equipment through the agency of the Department for Relations with the Republic of Moldova. The equipment consists of laptops, interactive boards, printers and other devices,” stated Anatolie Topală. He encouraged the managers of educational institutions that will receive equipment to make all the efforts for this digital support to become accessible swiftly and to be used in classrooms.

Secretary of state of the Department for Relations with the Republic of Moldova Adrian Dupu noted that the educational process should follow its normal course even in these difficult times. “By the digitization of 20 schools of the Republic of Moldova, we bring the future closer to the students and those who in time will take our place. The goal is to also stimulate student attendance, to reduce school abandonment and to improve the teaching process – learning based on the use of last generation technology,” stated the Romanian official.

The 20 schools will receive smart boards, laptops and multifunctional printers. The value of the project is of about 3 million Moldovan lei. “In several days, we will together celebrate the National Day of Romania. I know it is nice to receive presents, but it is as nice to make presents. You should use this equipment in the best way possible so as to achieve the expected results,” stated Adrian Dupu.

Romania’s Ambassador to Moldova Cristian-Leon Țurcanu said the event is of special importance to him as he comes from a family of teachers. “I realize how important it is to have very good conditions of teaching and learning, to have equipment and devices that are so necessary today, when you cannot know if you will go to school today or not. This modern equipment is a deserved present,” stated Cristian-Leon Țurcanu.

The principal of the Chisinau Theoretical Lyceum “Mihai Marinciuc” Valeria Ioniță underlined the importance of the donation, saying that the process of digitization and the access to digital transformation, especially education and development of skills in the field, are essential steps by which equal chances can be ensured for the young generation to integrate into society and be able to cope with the future challenges,” said Valeria Ioniță.

Petru Langa, principal of the Ungheni Theoretical Lyceum “Mihai Eminescu”, noted that in the digital era, this support comes to help the teachers and primarily the students to form skills for multilateral development and for coping with the current challenges.
