"Romania and Moldova are linked by special relationship", interim Romanian President

The interim President of Romania Ilie Bolojan said that Romania and the Republic of Moldova are linked by a special relationship, based on a common history, European values and development projects. The Senate Speaker, who took over the duties of head of state, had a telephone conversation with President Maia Sandu, IPN reports.

"Today I had a telephone conversation with Missis Maia Sandu, President of the Republic of Moldova, who congratulated me on taking over the interim position of President of Romania. I thanked her for her good thoughts and for the sincere friendship between our countries," said Ilie Bolojan.

According to the Romanian official, Romania and the Republic of Moldova are linked by a special relationship. "We will continue to cooperate closely for the benefit of the citizens on both banks of the Prut. Moldova is not alone. We stand by mutually, in the same fight for a better future," said the interim president of Romania.

Maia Sandu wished success to Ilie Bolojan, thanking Romania for the plenary and unconditional support offered to the Republic of Moldova: "I reiterated the gratitude of the citizens of the Republic of Moldova and stressed that Romania remains our soul partner."

The President’s Office in Chisinau said that during the discussion, the officials reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening bilateral ties for the benefit of the citizens living on both banks of the Prut.
