Romania aggravates the political situation in Moldova, Russia's permanent delegate to the OSCE, Anvar Azimov, stated Thursday in Vienna, RIA Novosti is quoted by Info-Prim Neo as reporting.
“The fact that Bucharest is delaying to sign the border treaty, as well as the process of “romanianizing” the Moldovan population by handing out Romanian passports aggravates the situation," stated Azimov at reunion of the Permanent Council of the OSCE.
According to the diplomat, after simplifying the processing of getting Romanian citizenship, “the number of Romanian citizens in Moldova can rise to 1.5 million."
“It is not understandable why the OSCE prefers to ignore these moves of Bucharest," said the diplomat. Since “Russia was targeted by severe criticism for its policy of “passportizing” conducting after the disappearance of the Soviet Union in South Ossetia and Abkhazia," added Anvar Azimov.
