The municipality wants to offer a possibility to those who want to start a business and do not have the necessary funds, but want to receive support, Roman Vitiuc, head of the General Division of Economy, Trade and Tourism of the Chisinau Municipal Council, stated in a debate at IPN News Agency that centered on the pilot municipal program pilot “Startup for Youth People and Migrants”.

The City Hall’s contribution consists in the provision of financial support and of the documents that include the operations manual and the business plan that should be presented. “When the young people appropriately fulfill the participation form, they secure 25% of the points needed to obtain the requested financing. I repeat: the goal is to facilitate the access of young people so that they could develop a business at home, near their parents, children, friends. This way, they will also contribute to the development of the municipality,” stated the official.

Asked by the moderator to anticipate when the discussed program will start to be applied, Roman Vitiuc said that public debates are now being held in accordance with the law on decisional transparency. The program was posted on the website of the Chisinau City Hall and recommendations and observations over it will be collected until July 14. All those interested can formulate proposals over the program and these will be examined.

An anticorruption assessment will be requested after the public consultations given that the program has a budgetary component. At the final stage, the Chisinau Municipal Council is to approve the program. “If we do not manage to do this until the councilors go on vacation, we will suggest considering the program in the first autumn meeting” stated Roman Vitiuc.

He noted that only after this the program will be kicked off simultaneously with a promotion campaign to ensure its success. “The program implementation unit will take measures to raise awareness, will conduct promotion campaigns. What we are doing today is a small step towards informing the public and identifying those who would like to become part of the program,” said the representative of the City Hall.
