The General Prosecutor's Office has identified short, medium and long term risks after analyzing the draft law on the merger of the PCCOCS and the Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office. The PG finds that the reorganization of the prosecution system in the proposed formula will have a significant impact on the procedures and timeframes of criminal prosecution, IPN reports.

Moreover, it is difficult to predict the terms of functionality of the institution that is proposed to be created, which will generate a disruption in the work of the system, the Prosecutor General's Office's statement said.

At the same time, the draft does not contain details on the interaction of the proposed institution with the competent prosecution bodies throughout the country, the PG notes.

The General Prosecutor's Office considers it important to respect all stages of this process, to carry out broad public consultations, legal and anti-corruption expertise and legal approval of the draft.

At the same time, the Prosecutor General's Office suggests the need to comply with the European standards of the Prosecutor's Office system and, given Moldova's firm commitment to European integration, considers necessary the opinion of the competent European institutions, such as the Consultative Council of European Prosecutors, together with other relevant actors in the drafting of draft laws.

The Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office announced that it supports the position of the General Prosecutor's Office regarding the draft law on the Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office and the Fight against Organized Crime.
