The Party “Revival” condemns the Government’s initiative to annul the Victory Day and is against the bill that provides for this as it considers that this is a step towards division in society. Members of the party invite the citizens to a protest march that will head for the Parliament Building, where public hearings on the bill will be held, on June 3.

In a news conference hosted by IPN, unaffiliated MP Vasile Bolea, a member of “Revival” Party, said that he does not agree with the recently registered legislative proposal concerning bank holidays and commemorative days. More exactly, the MPs of the ruling party introduced a bill to amend the Labor Code and the Parliament decision on bank holidays, nonworking days and commemorative days. The government wants to rewrite the history and to declare May 9, when the Day of Victory in the Great Patriotic War is celebrated, a day of conciliation.

The MP noted that the government follows the path of the Ukrainian authorities. Vasile Bolea condemns the actions taken to divide Moldovan society.

Irina Lozovan, a member of “Revival” Party, said the Moldovans are the descendants of persons who scored victories. The Moldovans fought alongside other nations to have a clear sky above the head and a future. The authorities do not have any moral right to rename the holiday. “We will never forget the heroism of our predecessors,” she stated. “We must honor the memory of the heroes of World War II,” said another representative of the party Iurie Vitneanschi

MP Alexandr Suhodolski noted that May 9 is the Day of Victory over fascism and everyone is obliged to celebrate it. For his part, Alexandr Nesterovschi said that he Moldovan genofund is destroyed by this bill. “They initially make the people forget that we speak the Moldovan language and now try to destroy the Victory Day. I think the turn of the church and the state will then come,” stated the MP. He invited the people to come to the June 3 march with the victory flag and without party flags.
