It has been two months since Parliament adopted a decision to review the tariffs of medical-sanitary services. Though the bill proposed by a group of Communist MPs envisioned a 30-day period during which the Government was to provide an answer, this didn’t do it.

Contacted by IPN, Communist MP Oxana Domenti said the Government delays the implementation of the Parliament decision and this spoils the image of the executive. “Until now, there has been no official reaction to our requests to implement this decision. I hope this is not sabotage of a Parliament decision by the Government,” stated the MP.

“This decision wasn’t a whim of Parliament. It was actually adopted unanimously and was a necessity based on analyses and objective factors. We and everyone expects that the Government will objectively analyze the tariff formation methodology and that the decision concerning the new tariffs will be taken based on objective, not subjective factors,” said Oxana Domenti.

The Government’s press service has told IPN that the problem is related to the sector policies of which the Ministry of Health is in charge. IPN News Agency sent a written request to the Ministry and the answer will be published as soon as it arrives.

The draft decision that envisions the review of tariffs of medical-sanitary services was passed by Parliament on April 6. The draft says that the Government was to amend the methodology of calculating the tariffs of medical-sanitary services provided for money within 30 days of the adoption of the decision. The review was required because of the limited range of services included in the common mandatory health insurance program and other factors that make the population use medical services for money.

The tariffs of medical-sanitary services were increased in February by a Government decision, in some cases ten times. The Ministry of Health said then that the pursued goal was to increase the quality of medical services and the efficiency of treatment by modernizing hospitals. On the other hand, the expert report on the Ministry of Health’s decision produced by the National Anticorruption Center says some types of medical services were increased excessively and unreasonably.
