Ion Ceban: Chisinau does not have a long-term development plan

Chisinau is the only capital in the region that does not have a long-term development plan, says Ion Ceban, the PSRM candidate for mayor of the capital. At a press conference, the candidate has mentioned that he will map out a sustainable development plan according to European standards. "I know how to do this. Starting from the sustainable urban mobility plan, which includes road, bicycle and pedestrian, parking infrastructure”, said Ion Ceban.

The Socialist said that he intended to increase threefold the allocations for capital repairs to the roads, up to 300 million lei a year. "The sidewalks today are in a disastrous state. We have a very concrete operational plan and we will put it into operation the day we win the City Hall,” said Ion Ceban.

The Socialist candidate has noted that so far the interventions in and approaches to the roads and sidewalks issue have been chaotic. Most of the 1700 kilometres of road and over 900 streets are in terrible condition.

The socialist candidate specified that the sources to be invested would be both internal and external. "We work intensively with people from abroad to identify these sources and we will manage to do so," concluded Ion Ceban.

A group of intellectuals, representatives of the "Reintegration" Permanent Round Table, that support Boris Volosatîi as a candidate for mayor of the capital, urges the unionist and right-wing parties to unite.

“Mr. Volosatîi is the head of an important, well-known and acknowledged pre-university establishment. He is a great political figure, a good manager. He was several times councillor in Chisinau. We reached the conclusion that Mr. Boris Volosatîi knows the problems of the city, of the municipality and has solutions to them”, stated the moderator of “Reintegration” Permanent Round Table, historian Anatol Petrencu, at a press conference.

Historian Ion Negrei has said that the large number of candidates for the head of the capital leaves the impression that the right-wing segment is doomed. In these conditions, the message is to coordinate the political movement so as to appoint a single right wing candidate who would have a chance to win.

Vasile Costiuc, chairman of the Democracy at Home Party/ Democrația Acasă, which promotes Boris Volosatîi as candidate, mentioned that in Boris Volosatîi' s personality he saw a natural continuity of the national, patriotic Romanian traditions of the first mayor Nicolae Costin.

Boris Volosatii said he would accept the proposal of the Round Table with great responsibility. "I come to mobilize all those who feel and think in Romanian," said Boris Volosatîi.
