After the talks held by the U.S. and Ukrainian delegations in Saudi Arabia, Ukraine expressed its readiness to stop military actions for a period of 30 days, which can be extended by mutual agreement of the parties, subject to simultaneous acceptance and implementation by the Russian Federation, IPN reports, with reference to the Office of the President of Ukraine.

"It is a necessary step to start working on real security guarantees and to prepare the final terms of a peace agreement. But now the key is in Moscow's hands," Andriy Yermak, head of the Office of the President of Ukraine, posted on social media.

The delegations noted the importance of humanitarian efforts as part of the peace process, especially during the ceasefire, the exchange of prisoners, the release of detained civilians and the return of forcibly displaced Ukrainian children.

At the same time, the Ukrainian and U.S. officials agreed to conclude an agreement on the development of Ukraine's critical mineral resources as soon as possible, in order to strengthen the country's economy and ensure the long-term prosperity and security of the state.

The U.S. could resume military aid and intelligence sharing.

"We'll take this offer now to the Russians, and we hope that they'll say yes, that they'll say yes to peace," U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio said at a press conference.

The United States committed itself to discussing these specific proposals with Russian representatives. The Ukrainian delegation noted that European partners must be involved in the peace process.

Shortly after the meeting in Jeddah, State Duma deputy Viktor Sobolev said that "a temporary ceasefire is unacceptable, as the President (Vladimir Putin) had said." There will be no agreement on a 30-day pause during which the U.S. could continue to rearm Ukraine, or this would only serve the purposes of the Ukrainian army, the Russian official added, quoted by observatorulnews.ro.

Meanwhile, U.S. President Donald Trump said that he could talk to his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin this week and that he hopes for a lasting ceasefire, which could be negotiated in the coming days, IPN reports, quoting Euronews.ro. According to the quoted source, Steve Witkoff, Trump's special envoy, plans to go to Moscow these days to meet with the Russian president.
