The decision taken by the Central Electing Commission on October 20, which regulates the transportation of voters to polling stations on the election day, covers the voters from the country and those who are abroad. CEC president Dorin Cimil told a news conference that the decision was taken in a move to prevent the organized transportation of voters in the interests of an electoral contender and this must be respected by all the voters, by all the election runners, IPN reports.
“The national and international observers who were accredited by the CEC are to report such situations, no matter where they are, while monitoring the voting process inside the country,” stated Dorin Cimil.
CEC secretary Maxim Lebedinschi noted the monitoring of the electoral process is primarily the duty of the electoral contenders, who should do this through the agency of their observers. These can notify the CEC of the identified irregularities.
On the election day on November 1, between 7am and 9pm, only motor vehicles with a capacity of eight seats and vehicles transporting passengers by regular routes will be allowed to move on the country’s territory.
