The resignation tendered by Alexandru Tanase from the post of justice minister can be regarded as a part of a scenario. Such an opinion was stated by invitees to the talk show “Key issue” on NTV Moldova channel, IPN reports.
Ex-Deputy Prime Minister Victor Stepaniuc said the resignation can be considered a part of a scenario. “We will yet see if Tanase decided indeed to leave. But I don’t think he will leave as, as far as it is seen, he can be blackmailed. I think he will be yet used in the future,” he stated.
Jurist Pavel Midrigan said the discussion between Alexandru Tanase and Veaceslav Platon that was made public showed once again that they live a double life in Moldova: one thing is said at official level and another thing is done between different players of the public life. “Particular coordination can be seen in the resignation tendered by Tanase and, possibly, there was a particular stratagem,” he said.
Political analyst Victor Ciobanu said one day after the publication of the discussion, Alexandru Tanase on a social networking site wrote that there was nothing criminal in his discussion with Veaceslav Platon. “During these 24 hours, something happened. It seems that the power considered that the costs exceed the revenues. This is the second resignation tendered by Tanase and he didn’t manage to do reforms again,” said the analyst. Victor Ciobanu noted the coming of the new minister Victoria Iftodi from the Constitutional Court is the most interesting moment, adding that the same players are moved from one institution to another.
Alexandru Tanase on March 11 announced his decision to a resign from the post of minister of justice and to thus end his public career. The announcement was made after Jurnal TV channel on March 9 broadcast the wiretap of a conversation between businessman Veaceslav Platon and Alexandru Tanase. This dates from 2015, when Tanase served as president of the Constitutional Court. Currently, Platon serves time in jail for swindle, corruption and money laundering.
