Alexandru Musteață, a resident of Durlești, on behalf of a number of locals demands that the central and local authorities and also the Government should investigate the construction of a residential complex in Durlești, called Premium Olimp Towers Complex. According to him, the construction works are executed with multiple violations.

“I believe we have the right to a future with a normal residential area. Why should someone be allowed to erect a residential complex among existing buildings in order to satisfy their financial desire? Alexandru Musteață stated in a press conference hosted by IPN.

He added that he lives in the vicinity of that lot where the residential complex has been built. In 2006, when he purchased the lot for building an individual house on it, the documents indicated that there were lots for gardens next to his lot. As it is an area with a risk of landslides, high-rise buildings should not be allowed. In 2023, he learned that the purpose of the adjoining lot was changed from “garden” to “urban area for multistorey residential complex”.

Alexandru Musteață complained about construction dust that is spread by the wind. He said the access road to the area is permanently muddy because the concrete mixers are washed there. The risk of landslides is yet more serious.

Victor Panțîru, lawyer who represents the interests of Durlesti residents, said that, although the local public authorities know about the risk of landslides in that area, they do not do anything and they also do not come to the court hearings in the lawsuit filed by locals.

The lawyer noted that the lot does not have local capacity for electricity or water supply, for sewerage. It will be necessary to build a new electricity network and bring the necessary power, either from Ialoveni or from the Alfa plant, and to also solve the problem with the transport network.

The Court of Appeals ordered to suspend the construction works. As a result, the Durlesti mayor’s office issued an order to suspend the works, but the it made a decision to suspend the suspension. In early March, they asked again the court to suspend the works, but the court has not yet pronounced on the issue, stated Victor Panțîru.
