The second round of the mayoral election is rerun in Aluatu village of Taraclia district on December 17. One polling station will be established in the village and 770 locals are expected to cast their votes there, IPN reports.

The Central Election Commission said that 768 ballots will be printed for the rerun election. The same two candidates – of the Party of Change and of the Party of Socialists – will be written on the ballot in the descending order of the votes gained in the second round of voting held on December 3, 2023.

The Commission invalidated the December 3 election in Aluatu for the reason that the turnout of voters was under 20% of the voting-eligible citizens.

In accordance with the Electoral Code, the rerun voting is considered valid regardless of the turnout of voters.
