The General Inspectorate for Emergencies has issued an advisory warning the public of potential hazards due to unstable weather over the weekend.

The public is asked to constantly check for forecast updates and avoid movement in risk areas.

Motorists are urged to be cautious in traffic and adapt speeds to weather conditions. If people find themselves in difficult situations in their vehicles, they are asked to urgently call the 112 Service and follow the recommendations, so that the specialized teams can intervene quickly.

Administrators of ponds are asked to make sure any existing embankments are solid and, if possible, lower water levels to prevent flooding.

Rescuers also recommend that during thunderstorms, electrical appliances and equipment should be turned off, and windows and doors of the home should be tightly closed. Also during thunderstorms, stay away from radiators and other metal objects because they conduct electricity.

Parents are urged to always watch out for their children and avoid leaving them unattended.

The State Hydrometeorological Service has announced a code yellow alert from Saturday evening to Sunday noon, with thunderstorms and gusty winds forecast across Moldova.
