The visit made by the President of Germany to Chisinau is an additional proof of the fact that the Republic of Moldova returned to the sphere of interest of the most important European chancelleries. Moreover, the foreign partners give again a credit of trust and financial assistance to the Republic of Moldova as they see a new hope of modernization of the country in the current government, political commentators stated in a program on TVR Moldova channel. According to them, the new administrator of Moldova enjoys credibility and legitimacy in front of the foreign partners, IPN reports.

The director of the European Institute for Political Studies Viorel Cibotaru said the Federal President’s visit to Chisinau shows unprecedented openness to the new government and the reforms announced by it.

“The credibility ad legitimacy of the government in Chisinau was restored and the perspectives are very clear. The external course promoted by this government is clear. The Germans are very pragmatic in the relations with other countries. That’s why they don’t hurry to come with nice projects whose implementation is thorny, primarily due to the state of our society. There is the pressure of the demographic problem. There is the degradation of natural resources. In the Republic of Moldova, things follow a favorable direction and this visit contributes to this picture,” Cibotaru stated in the program “Emphasis on Today” on TVR Moldova channel.

The Moldova –EU relationship from Bucharest is also regarded with a lot of optimism. Iulian Fota, director general of the Romanies Diplomatic Institute, said the visits by the most important European leaders to Chisinau is a clear sign that the EU wants to contribute to Moldova’s transformation into a prosperous and democratic state.

“It is a clear sign that the Republic of Moldova returned to the map of Europe and to the agenda of the European Union. It is seen that the foreign partners have a new hope in the modernization of the Republic of Moldova. The Republic of Moldova can now become again the success story of the Eastern Partnership. All the leaders and all the international organizations already offered concrete elements of assistance to the Republic of Moldova. At the time of Igor Dodon, something like this didn’t happen. This financial assistance is extremely important for a still failed state. It comes to vaccines and medical equipment. Despite the Socialist rhetoric, things in this regard are clear. The European Union offers concrete support to the Republic of Moldova,” stated Iulian Fota.

During his official visit to Chisinau, the President of Germany Frank-Walter Steinmeier announced that Germany intends to offer €10 million in financial support to the Republic of Moldova. In time, Germany supported development projects totaling €290 million in the Republic of Moldova.
