Adriana Sosnovski failed to qualify for the semifinals of the ITF Pro Circuit tournament hosted for the first time by Chisinau. The 18-year-old tennis player lost to Romania’s Ilona Georgiana Ghioroaie 7-5, 5-7, 6-2, IPN reports.
In the semifinals, Ghioroaie will duel with Andreea Georgia Craciun of Romania, who defeated Ukraine’s Oleksandra Andrieieva 6-2, 6-1. In the other semifinal, Veronika Kapshay of Ukraine will meet Russia’s Olga Puchkova. Kapshay has easily qualified for the semifinals after winning against Romanian player Teodor Stanga 6-0, 6-0, while Puchkova beat Ukraine’s Nadiya Kolb 6-4, 6-4.
In the doubles, Adriana Sosnovski is the only Moldovan player who remained in the competition. The doubles final takes place on September 30, while the singles final on October 1.
