Renato Usatyi typifies the romanticism of the underworld, while the Socialists managed to build an image of the largest opposition party. This is how the expert of the Institute for Development and Social Initiatives “Viitorul” Corneliu Ciurea explained the results of a poll presented recently by the Center of Sociological Investigations and Marketing CBS-AXA. The poll shows the Party of Socialists (PSRM) and “Our Party” PPPN would gain the largest number of votes in possible early legislative elections, IPN reports.
“When we speak about Renato Usatyi, we imagine that model of politicians of the underworld of the 1990s. It’s not only about nostalgia, but also about a hope. I don’t say that Renato Usatyi is a member of the underworld. But he said that he will come and will hold accountable those who are now in power. The people put their hope in him,” the expert said in the talk show “Pahomi” on Realitatea TV channel.
As to the PSRM’s rating in the poll, Corneliu Ciurea said the Socialists built an image of the most powerful opposition party. “The relationship between the PPPN and PSRM will end in the not too distant future. The current alliance between Usatyi and Dodon is an alliance of latent enemies. This is the diabolic side of the protests,” he stated.
Speaking about the decline of the Liberal Democratic Party and the Democratic Party, Corneliu Ciurea noted that the situation is not so serious even if the image of these parties was seriously affected by the bank frauds. “Practice shows that these parties actually win more votes than the surveys predict. In case of early elections, the two parties will make use of the resources they possess and will restore their image,” he said.
Corneliu Ciurea considers the European People’s Party of Iurie Leanca has yet more chances. “Iurie Leanca is on the reserve seat. The people expect someone to come clean and honest and to save them. If this person does not come, this segment of voters will support Leanca’s party,” he said. According to him, the Party of Communists and the Liberal Party preserved their positions owing to their nucleus, which is not yet so solid.
According to the CBS-AXA poll, eight parties would enter Parliament if early elections were held next Sunday. These are: the PPPN (22.8% of the vote), the PSRM (20.8%), the European People’s Party of Moldova (9.9%), the Party of Communists (9.3%), the Liberal Party (7.3%), the Liberal Democratic Party (7.3%), the party that would be created by the Civic Platform “Dignity and Truth” (7%) and the Democratic Party (6.8%).
