Chisinau came up with proposals, including written addresses to Tiraspol, in which the Moldovan government clearly specified its readiness to help its citizens in the eastern districts and to establish a mechanism for dialog with Tiraspol. The response was a total rejection of these offers. The Reintegration Policy Bureau has clarified the matter, noting with concern the intensification of anti-Moldovan rhetoric and actions by Moscow and Tiraspol in recent days, IPN reports.
"We have every reason to believe that a scenario is being pursued to destabilize the situation in the country, to defame the constitutional authorities and to spread fear and insecurity among citizens", a press release said.
The institution also notes that even more surprising are the claims made today by the Russian Embassy in Chisinau that the Moldovan government is responsible for the situation in the east of the country.
"Contrary to what the Russian diplomatic representation claims, Chisinau has not stopped the gas supply to the Transnistrian region, nor has it canceled the contract with Gazprom, which is valid until September 2026. The termination of the transit contract through Ukraine is also an absolutely false pretext, as there is a possibility of delivering natural gas through the Trans-Balkan pipeline", the statement added.
According to the Reintegration Office, the responsibility for the situation created in the country's eastern districts is the result of Moscow's increasingly dangerous and dishonest geopolitical games, which through these actions call into question the role of the Russian Federation as a mediator and guarantor in the Transnistrian settlement negotiations.
"The actions taken by Moscow and its henchmen in Tiraspol in recent weeks undermine confidence in all existing negotiation mechanisms on the settlement of this file and jeopardize Chisinau's efforts over the past three years to maintain peace and stability in the country and the region", the statement added.
The leader in Tiraspol, Vadim Krasnoselski, said today that he had not received any offers of help from Chisinau and that all claims by the Moldovan authorities in this regard were lies. At the same time, the Embassy of the Russian Federation in the Republic of Moldova published a statement blaming Moldova, Ukraine and the West for the energy crisis in the Transnistrian region. As a result, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs described the statements as dangerous disinformation and ordered the summoning of the representative of the Russian Embassy.
