An information system called “Medical Recording of Birth and Death” will be created in Moldova. According to a draft law that was approved by the Cabinet, the implementation of this system involves the digitization of the procedures for registering births and deaths in Moldova, IPN reports.

Minister of Health Ala Nemerenco said that the implementation of this information system will replace the issuance of birth or death certificates on paper. The goal is to streamline data collection, validation, analysis and interpretation processes.

“The information system will be accessible to authorized users for recording medical facts – birth and death - in strict compliance with personal data protection regulations. For example, now doctors issue a birth or death certificate, after which the person must pick it up at the medical institution, go to the Public Services Agency and this is later copied on another sheet of paper. The person then goes to another institution and so on,” said the minister.

According to her, this system will ensure interinstitutional exchange of data and will generate detailed statistical reports, contributing to better monitoring of demographic trends according to European standards.
