About 80 km of a road that connects 22 villages of Straseni and Orhei districts will be rehabilitated over the next three years with financial support from the World Bank’s Road Fund, Minister of Transport and Road Infrastructure Vasile Botnari said while on a building site on the Straseni-Voinova road, IPN reports, quoting a press release of the Ministry of Transport and Road Infrastructure.

The minister said that 21 km of a local road that joins five villages - Voinova, Chirianca, Zubresti, Recea, and Ghelauza - were rehabilitated at a cost of 15 million lei, which was allocated from the 2014 Road Fund.  “We will continue to repair this road. It will be asphalted and will have two lanes. Another 35 million lei was allocated from the Road Fund for the purpose,” stated Vasile Botnari.

He noted that a portion of another road that connects the villages Chirianca, Zubresti, Galesti, Galestii Noi and Bucovat was proposed for being included in the local roads rehabilitation program that is supported by the World Bank. “This year we will design this road that will ensure access to another five villages so that it could be repaired by 2017 and the people have access to important social institutions,” said the minister.

The road that joints Straseni town and the villages Saca, Martinesti, Greblesti, Codreanca, Lupa Rece, Tabara, Vatici, Curchi, Morozeni, Breanova, Tarzieni, and Malaiesti could also be included in the World Bank’s project.

A sum of 450 million lei was earmarked in the Road Fund for repairing about 700 km of local roads this year.
