Five regional anti-corruption legal service and outreach centres will be created in Balti, Cahul, Chisinau, Comrat, and Tiraspol as part of a project launched by the Association for Moldovan Legal Clinics (APCJM) According to a communiqué from the Association, the centres will have three primary roles: to offer free legal assistance to persons and organizations affected by corruption; to provide a grassroots outreach and dissemination of corruption-related information to the public; and to serve as a source of relevant case studies to be publicized nationwide. The project called "Anti-corruption Legal Aid and Outreach Centres" will ensure qualitative examination of requests, direct them to relevant State institutions, and monitor the resolution of all requests, the communiqué says. The project will run through February 2009 and will seek to further the objectives of the Strengthening Civil Society Monitoring Capacity in Moldova (SCSMCM) Programme, which is carried out within the framework of the Moldovan Threshold Country Plan (TCP), financed by the Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) and managed by the U.S. Agency for International for Development (USAID).
