BCS MP Radu Mudreac remained without parliamentary immunity. The parliamentary majority accepted the acting prosecutor general Dumitru Robu’s request to lift his immunity. The MP is suspected of investing illegally obtained money in the construction of a building in Chisinau as the manager of a limited liability company. The MP said he does not understand the role of such actions as he is ready to make statements and to appear for questioning, IPN reports.

Radu Mudreac is accused of borrowing almost 8 million lei based on fake loan agreements for legalizing ill-gotten gains. The persons indicated as lender said they didn’t lend money to him and some of them were not even in the country when the agreements were allegedly signed.

In his speech, Radu Mudreac said it is hard for him to comment on the accusations made against him as he didn’t familiarize himself with the materials of the criminal case started against him, but he is ready to appear before the investigation bodies whenever it is necessary.

In the questions and answers session, Șor Party MP Marina Tauber said the Prosecutor’s Office was usurped, as was the state that was captured by the current administration and they are now witnessing a bad show in Parliament.

BCS MP Vladimir Voronin said the lifting of immunity is a very serious act and the consequences will be serious if mistakes are made given that the law enforcement agencies, including the Prosecutor’s Office, are formed by the legislative body of the Republic of Moldova, which is a parliamentary republic.

His group made Vlad Batrîncea noted it is easier for the prosecutors to come after Radu Mudreac than to investigate the real frauds committed in the country. Another BCS MP Vasile Bolea said the prosecutors try to show that Radu Mudreac is a bandit, but he is just the propagandist of a shameful show against who a criminal case was fabricated as the accusations of money laundering are unsubstantiated and the origin of that money wasn’t even established.

A number of 56 PAS MPs voted in favor of lifting of Radu Mudreac’s immunity. During the vote, BCS MPs blocked the central rostrum of Parliament, chanting “Shame!”.

Sympathizers of the Party of Socialists came together in front of the Parliament Building, accusing the Party of Action and Solidarity of taking political revenge.

Before the lifting of immunity was put to the vote, Radu Mudreac was taken to the hospital by an ambulance.
