MP of the Party of Action and Solidarity Radu Marian refuted five falsehoods about PAS presidential candidate Maia Sandu, IPN reports.

In a video published on social media, Radu Marian debunks, one by one, each falsehood:

Lie 1: Maia Sandu will bring war

Truth: Bandits will bring war. Maia Sandu has kept peace and tranquility in the country in these four years. Through accession to the European Union, Maia Sandu aims to keep the peace for a long time to come, as there was peace in the EU countries for 80 years. Joining the European Union is not the same as joining NATO.

Lie 2: Maia Sandu will close churches

Truth: Maia Sandu has served as a President for four years and during this time she has not closed any church. On the contrary, she maintains good relations with the church. Not long ago, she received a prize of €25,000 for the repair of the church-monument "Saint Pious Parascheva" in Nișcani village of Călărași district.

Lie 3: Maia Sandu will legalize LGBT marriages because the European Union asks her to do so

Truth: There is no EU document that obliges Moldova to legalize LGBT marriages. Countries decide for themselves and Maia Sandu will respect the decision and opinions of the Moldovans, as she has respected them for the last four years.

Lie 4: Maia Sandu has indebted the country

Truth: The public debt compared to the value of our country's economy remained practically unchanged. In 2020, it was at the level of 34%, and in 2023, it stood at 34.8%. Furthermore, the level of public debt in Moldova is much lower than in Ukraine or Romania. The EU aid and investment will lead to a decrease in the debt relative to the country's economy.

Lie 5: Maia Sandu will allow the sale of Moldovan land to foreigners

Truth: Maia Sandu, while she has served as President, has not allowed this. She said for several times that the restrictions on the sale of land to foreigners will remain valid and she will not allow this. There is a law that bans this. Most recently, this restriction was confirmed by law in December 2023.

It should be noted that on Sunday, November 3, PAS candidate Maia Sandu and PSRM candidate Alexandr Stoianoglo will contend in the runoff presidential election.
