Radu Albot qualifies to second preliminary round of US Open

Moldova’s best tennis player Radu Albot qualified to the second preliminary round of Grand Slam tournament US Open, Info-Prim Neo reports. Albot bested Belarus’s Vladimir Ignatiuk, score 7-5, 6-7, 6-2, after two and a half hours of play. In the next round, Albot will meet the main favorite of the qualifications, Netherlands’ Igor Sisjling. In order to qualify for the main tournament of US Open, Radu needs to win to more qualification rounds. This year, Radu Albot also participated in the Grand Slam tournaments Australian Open and Wimbledon, but was eliminated in the qualifications. The athlete has six victories in the Futures cups and nearly obtained an entry at the Olympics in London. At 22 years of age, Albot is Moldova’s highest placed tennis player in the ATP rankings, occupying the 222nd position.
