Radu Albot brings first point to Moldova

The men’s national team of Moldova took the lead in the duel with Bosnia and Herzegovina of the second tour of the Davis Cup Europe/Africa Zone Group II, IPN reports.

The first victory for Moldova was scored by the best tennis player of the country Radu Albot, who beat easily Tomislav Brkic 6-3, 7-6, 6-3. Owing to the unfavorable weather conditions, the match started several hours later.

The other match played on the first day of the contest, between Maxim Dubarenko and Damir Dzumhur, also started with delay and was suspended after the first set, which was won by the Bosnian by 6-3. The game will be resumed today, April 6.

The doubles between Tomislav Brkic /Damir Dzumhur and Radu Albot / Andrei Ciumac will take place also today.

Moldova competes in this stage of the competition for the first time. If it beats the Balkan team, Moldova will meet Lithuania or Portugal and will fight for promotion to the first world league.
