R. of Moldova and Turkey consolidate economic cooperation

The trade volumes between the R. of Moldova and Turkey reached USD 96 mln in January-September period of 2006 by increasing 15% compared to the same period of 2005. The tendency has been pointed out within the frameworks of the recent session of the Joint Economic Commission, the Embassy of Turkey in Chisinau informs via a communiqué cited by Info-Prim Neo. According to the cited source, the ongoing situation regarding existing cooperation areas such as Agro Industry, Construction, Energy & Industry, Transportation, Standardization, Metrology, Conformity Assessments and Accreditation, Technical Cooperation and Customs were also assessed during the meeting. Moreover, to obtain fruitful consequence as soon as possible, the related calendar for following meetings in almost all cooperation areas were determined by JEC protocol. In the context the following meeting of the Turkish- Moldovan Business Council was determined to be held in the first half of 2007 in Moldova. Both countries expressed their will to encourage participation of two countries’ businessmen in the fairs, exhibitions, trade missions etc. Furthermore, members of the Commission agreed upon setting up an investment working group in the first half of 2007, to find out further investment opportunities between two countries, to contribute to improvement of business and investment environment and also provide one more channel for information flow between two countries.
