Russian President Vladimir Putin told a news conference on Thursday that he agrees in principle with the U.S. proposal for a ceasefire in Ukraine for 30 days, IPN reports.
"The idea itself is correct, and we certainly support it. But there are issues that we need to discuss. And I think we need to talk to our American colleagues as well. Maybe I should call President Trump and have a discussion with him. But we support the idea of ending this conflict by peaceful means,” said the Russian leader, quoted by The Moscow Times
Among the topics Putin wants to discuss are the control over compliance with the ceasefire regime on the front line, the fate of the Ukrainian army remaining in the Kursk region of the Russian Federation and the supply of Western weapons to Ukraine.
The ceasefire in Ukraine was discussed between Ukrainian and American officials this week at negotiations in Saudi Arabia.
