Building a road belt around the capital city so that the people could travel from one place to another bypassing the center of the city is a solution for decongesting Chisinau, said the candidate for mayor of Chisinau of the Party of Socialists (PSRM) Adrian Albu.

In a press briefing given on Alecu Russo St in Chisinau, Adrian Albu said the traffic jams in Chisinau are due to the fact that the local streets and bridges are repaired during the day. Also, there are not enough underground passages or footbridges that would enable pedestrians to cross the street without stopping traffic. The illegal parking of vehicles that block movement on lanes is another cause for congestion.

The PSRM’s candidate considers the repair works should be performed only at night, when traffic is less intense. Congestion can be relieved also by further investing in public transport so that the citizens of Chisinau are motivated to give up using personal transport.

Adrian Albu said those who travel by two or more units of transport should be offered the possibility of transferring free during 15 minutes.

He noted that the building of a road belt around Chisinau, with electric transport, is the most important solution. “This will enable each of us to travel from point A to point B during a reasonable period of time and at lower costs. For example, to get from Ciocana to Buiucani, a person will not have to travel through these traffic jams witnessed in Râșcani. The destination could be reached during a reasonable period through a bypassing point, by an electric train,” said the Socialist candidate.

As it was decided by draw, Adrian Albu, of the Party of Socialists, will be the tenth candidate on the list on the ballot.
