Members of the Party of Socialists of Moldova (PSRM) staged a protest on May 14, demanding that Minister of the Interior Dorin Recean should resign. According to the Socialists, the minister allows Vladimir Caramusca to continue to work in the police force after beating brutally a child aged 11, IPN reports.
PSRM member Nichita Turcan said Vladimir Caramusca beat the child because he ill-treated his son. Though the child suffered serious injuries, the policeman hasn’t been suspended from post and hasn’t been punished for his acts. “The Ministry of the Interior didn’t react to this case. That’s why we took to the streets to demand that Dorin Recean resign,” said the Socialist. According to him, the protests will continue until the police officer is punished.
The father of the beaten child said that Vladimir Caramusca confused the boy who ill-treated his son and beat an innocent child. His son was hospitalized after he was beaten cruelly. The child suffered a psychological trauma and is afraid to go out and to school alone.
The lawyer for the family of the beaten child Ana Ursachi said the policeman was suspended for ten days. In the period, there was held an internal inquiry, but its results are not known and the police officer continues to work in the police force. The lawyer will demand a jail term for the policeman.
