Representatives of the Party of Socialists, in the meeting with High Commissioner for European Neighborhood Policy and Enlargement Negotiations Johannes Hahn, who is in Chisinau on a visit, said they are categorically against holding snap parliamentary elections. They noted the PSRM remains open to discussions with the Bloc ACUM and aims to solve the political crisis faced by the Republic of Moldova, IPN reports.

In a press release, the PSRM says its representatives familiarized the European official with the position approved by the party’s National Council, concerning the subsequent measures aimed at solving the political crisis and the formation of a parliamentary majority and of a Government.

“The Party of Socialists ascertained with regret that the representatives of the Bloc ACUM until now practically refused to take into consideration our proposals for starting the dialogue. At the same time, the PSRM notes it remains open to discussions, but the time limit by which particular decisions can be taken expires from legal viewpoint and Parliament can be dissolved afterward,” runs the press release.

The Party of Socialists pleaded categorically against the snap elections that, according to the party, are an unwanted path in the current political situation in Moldova. “Nevertheless, a significant deviation from the decisions taken by the supreme bodies of the party’s administration is unacceptable. We consider the resumption of the dialogue and the finding of a soliton that would suit both of the sides and the interests of the voters and of the country, in general, are possible this week,” stated the Socialists.
