The Party of Socialists (PSRM) does not recognize the results of the introduction of a mandatory provision on European integration into the Constitution. The Socialists consider the amendment of the Constitution through such amendments is unacceptable and illegal and urge the Party of Action and Solidarity to abandon this initiative and to also stop the division in society, IPN reports.

"During the referendum, manifestly unequal conditions were created for the participants. Parties registered with the "No" voting option were prevented from broadcasting video spots in television shows, and the promotional materials were confiscated. At the same time, campaigning in favor of participating in the referendum and voting for the amendment was witnessed in state institutions, in public transport and even in the institutions of the educational system," reads a statement of the PSRM.

According to the Socialists, multiple violations were committed on election day. "The flags of the European Union were hoisted at the polling stations, which was an open form of campaigning. Representatives of opposition parties were not allowed to enter many polling stations abroad, and many cases of organized transportation of voters were reported. Also, hundreds of thousands of Moldovans, who live or are temporarily in the Russian Federation, where only two polling stations were established, were deprived of the right to vote,” noted the PSRM.

It also said that the organization of the referendum proved to be a total failure, pointing to the lack of consensus in Moldovan society on European integration, to the detriment of sovereignty.

At the October 20 referendum, 50.46% of the participants answered "Yes" to the question "Are your for amending the Constitution so as to enshrine the Republic of Moldova’s accession to the European Union? In it". The number of ballots with the "YES" option was 749,719, and the number of those with the "No" option was 739,155.

The Constitutional Court is due to examine the results of the referendum on Thursday and issue a decision confirming or rejecting the results of the plebiscite.
