The Party of Socialists expects the Bloc ACUM to become more flexible in negotiations now that the three-month period after which Parliament is to be dissolved for not forming a majority is coming to an end. This opinion that was stated earlier by President Igor Dodon, the informal leader of the PSRM, was reiterated by Socialist MP Vlad Bătrâncea in an interview for Radio Free Europe that is quoted by IPN.

Vlad Bătrâncea said they hope the colleagues from the Bloc ACUM will become more flexible and will examine a common agenda as one cannot impose an agenda only deriving from the wishes of those from ACUM.

He noted the Socialist MPs really want to form a parliamentary majority with the Bloc ACUM and they don’t like the public message of those from ACUM, the insults and political blackmail. “We should normally discuss without the press. We should sit at the negotiating table and see how the Republic of Moldova can be governed,” he added.

According to Vlad Bătrâncea, the PSRM wants the post of Parliament Speaker that is claimed by the Bloc ACUM to be assigned to it, but it is ready to support a Government managed by a Prime Minister named by ACUM on condition that this is formed by the two coalition partners. “It is our official position (...), as, being the group with 35 MPs, we should obtain the post of Speaker. We are ready to support a Government led by those from the Bloc ACUM, but not a minority one, but one with plenipotentiary powers.”

Vlad Bătrâncea noted a future coalition between the PSRM and ACUM would be balanced and would be able to ensure the development of the relations with the East and the West in the national interests of Moldova. “We, the Socialists, are ready to ensure good relations with the East, to bring investments and energy resources at reasonable prices, to reconquer the markets. Those from the Bloc ACUM, in the person of the Prime Minister, can ensure the further relations with the European Union,” he stated.
