All the pro-European political forces and representatives of the intellectual elites must be engaged to ensure the National Assembly on May 21 takes place as planned, said the deputy chairman of the European Social Democratic Party (PSDE) Yeremei Prysiazhniuk. According to him, the PSDE will take part in the National Assembly “European Moldova” announced by President Maia Sandu, but there should be certainty that the event is designed to unite society and is not an attempt by the ruling party to gain political advantages, IPN reports.

The politician noted an organizational committee must be created to arrange the National Assembly “European Moldova” so that the citizens realize that it is not a PR event of the PAS, but is an initiative to unite society around the European integration desideratum.

“Before this public event is held, discussions on different platforms should be initiated to invite the authentic pro-European forces of the Republic of Moldova and I do not speak only about political forces. The invitation to this event should be issued also to the intellectual elites as they actually represent the supreme value of the Republic of Moldova. It goes to the academic community, people of culture, people of art, people from different fields,” Yeremei Prysiazhniuk stated in the program “Reflection Points” on Vocea Basarabiei channel.

He noted that to prevent destabilization, the involvement of the fifth column or the discrediting of the event set for May 21, the state should show maximum vigilance. Russia still acts in Moldova by using the hybrid war instruments.

“There are risks and we should be very attentive. Here, an important role is played by the state institutions, especially the Security and Intelligence Service and other law enforcement agencies of the Republic of Moldova, which should assess the state of affairs and should analyze the risks to Moldova’s security. We saw those attempts. We saw that media outlets, elements of the fifth column are permanently used and we should at least efficiently analyze the risks,” stated the deputy chairman of the PSDE.

The National Assembly “European Moldova” convoked by President Maia Sandu is designed to deliver a firm message about the Moldovan citizens’ wish to be part of the European family to the international community. Representatives of the Party of Socialists and of the Movement for People planned demonstrations also for May 21, in the same venue – the central square of Chisinau.
