The protesters must refrain from using violence and must not yield to provocations. Such calls were made in the talk show “Moldova live” on the public TV channel Moldova 1, IPN reports.

Ecaterina Mardarovici, head of the Women’s Political Club “50/50”, condemned the use of violence near the Parliament Building. “I regret this combination of the struggle between two interest groups. I respect the right of these people to protest, but the violent protests will not bring the expected results,” she stated.

Sergiu Mocanu, leader of the People’s Movement “Antimafie”, said the main battle involves the oligarchic clans. “I’m one of those who want this government to fall. During over five years, I have warned about the Plahotniuc danger from all the rostrums. We witness dramatic events. Filat reached an agreement with Plahotniuc. We need a break. We now see a struggle between the oligarchic clans,” he stated.

Sergiu Ostaf, director of the Resource Center for Human Rights (CReDO), considers there were instigators among the protesters. “95% of the proteases are peaceful people, but there are about 200 people who behave provocatively. Attempts are made to distort a peaceful protest,” he stated.

Editorialist Nicolae Negru said the government is to blame for the large-scale protests. “The ruling political class bears the largest part of the blame. They treated with disrespect and arrogance protesters’ messages during many months,” he said.

Ion Dron, head of the Center of Initiatives and Public Authorities Monitoring, condemned the violent actions of some of the protesters. “I think we witness a coup. Things could degenerate. Who could anticipate the use of violence after April 6, 2009, when the people protested with candles in their hands? Regretfully, our people, especially the politicians, didn’t learn the lesson of April 7,” he stated.
