The Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office (AP) has finalized the presentation of evidence in support of the indictment against Veaceslav Platon. He is accused of swindling and money laundering on a particularly large scale, IPN reports.

According to prosecutors, as a manager and beneficiary of several companies, Veaceslav Platon embezzled funds from the Savings Bank. Ten witnesses were heard at the court hearing and a number of minutes and documents were examined.

"The presentation of the evidence took a long time due to the procrastination of the examination of the case by the defense, which often submitted requests for adjournment of the hearings or did not appear in court", the AP explains.

The prosecutors also note that they had difficulties in securing the attendance of witnesses. Defense evidence is still to be examined.
