Four former police officers were arrested because they daily followed, during about a week, two prospectors of the Anticorruption Prosecutor’s Office in charge with the investigation of the bank fraud, IPN reports.

The Prosecutor General’s Office said the criminal proceedings were instituted based on complaints filed by the two prosecutors who reported the illegalities committed against them and their families.

The abusive actions were confirmed. There were arrested four ex-policemen who were co-opted into the security service of an important figure featured in the bank fraud case.

When being questioned, the men admitted that they were instructed to follow, film and record the conversations of the prosecutors so as to identify eventual vulnerabilities in their private life so that they could be later discredited and prevented from fulfilling their duties. They also compiled reports that they transmitted to their chief.

The four were charged. At the request of prosecutors, they were placed under house arrest for a month.
