The Chisinau Appeals Court ordered to place the suspended deputy prosecutor general Ruslan Popov in preventive detention for 20 days following the challenging of the ordinary court’s decision to place him under house arrest, IPN reports.

Ruslan Popov, who is investigated for unjust enrichment, told the press that the Chisinau Appeals Court’s decision is illegal. “I think we will go to the European Court if the domestic courts defy the national legal framework,” stated the prosecutor.

Ruslan Popov was detained on October 9 and was shortly remanded in custody. The Chisinau City Court ordered to place him under house arrest for a 30-day period.
