The local authorities of Chisinau made public the program of events that will be held in the capital city on the Day of Chisinau that is celebrated on October 14, IPN reports.
At midday on October 13, the Municipal Merit Awards 2017 will be handed over at the School of Arts “Valeriu Poleakov”. The next day, the festivities will start with laying of flowers at the monument to Ruler Stephan the Great and Holy, at 8:30am. Starting at 9am, a group of priests will conduct an official service at the Metropolitan Cathedral.
At 10am, the national children’s and teen center “Artico” will launch the municipal floral arrangements contest “Flower of my soul for you, Chisinau”. The celebrations will be started officially in the square of the Cathedral at about 11am. The inhabitants and guests of Chisinau could visit exhibitions of paintings, graphics, handicrafts, books and floral arrangements. Starting at 12 noon, the Great National Assembly Square will host the International Folk Dances Festival “Hai la joc”. Along Stephan the Great Blvd, the district head’s offices of Chisinau will present their holiday programs.
At 2pm, ensembles of education institutions of Chisinau will stage a performance entitled “My city in holiday clothing”. The concert dedicated to the Day of Chisinau will begin in the central square at 5pm and will last close to midnight. The names of the singers who will perform in this are not yet known.
Between October 10 and 14, municipal karting competitions will take place on Dacia Blvd in Chisinau. During October 11-13, the Sports Water Polo School No. 4 “Gheorghe Osipov” will host the Water Polo OPEN. Municipal airplane and rocket modeling competitions will take place in Vadul lui Voda town during October 12-15, while the municipal kayak-canoe competition will take place in the Park “Valea Morilor” in Chisinau during October 13-15.
On October 14, the State University of Medicine and Pharmacy will host the Chisinau Table Tennis Open. The Horse-Racing Cup of Chisinau Municipality will be staged at the sports club “Sparta” in Budesti on October 14 and 15. The gala concert of the International Folk Dances Festival “Hal la joc” will be held at the Center of Culture “Ginta Latina” in Chisinau starting at 5pm.
