Activist Aurel Bucureanu has called on presidential candidates to endorse a manifesto proposed by a civic group called “Life. Future. People”. The candidates who will adopt the proposed policy plan will receive “guaranteed endorsement” from the group.

During a press conference on Thursday, Aurel Bucureanu detailed the manifesto. Among the priorities is the denunciation of agreements that “could lead to the outbreak of a war” in Moldova. This would be the Partnership for Peace with NATO, which Bucureanu says portrays Russia “as an enemy” of our country.

In this context, Bucureanu stressed that Moldova must not allow military equipment to be transported to Ukraine via its territory.

The group also demands the denunciation of the 2023 Open Skies agreement with the United States, which Bucureanu says allows for “American military aircraft to bring in weapons and foreign citizens heading for Ukraine”.

Other treaties that should be scrapped according to the group include the Agreement with NATO - SOFA and the military agreement with the French Republic, signed and ratified this year, as well the agreement on military mobilization with Romania, and the military agreement with Germany.

Bucureanu asks the presidential candidates to examine the withdrawal of some state documents, such as the National Security and Defense Strategy, because Russia is qualified as the main enemy of Moldova. In the opinion of the activist, the Government, the Parliament, the President, by signing such documents, are not aware of the risks of a war on the territory of Moldova.

Also, Bucureanu demanded that observer groups from Russia and China be registered at the presidential elections, not only from the U.S. and the EU, and that “Soros’ funds and those created by the US State Department be declared illegal in the Republic of Moldova, because the citizens alone are able to determine where and to what they are going in the future”.

Bucureanu says that the manifesto was sent to all the candidates, but none of them has responded yet. In context, he urges them to analyze and adopt it, to get the support of the group he represents.
