Prime Minister urges to fasten the construction of power lines

The Ministry of Industry and Infrastructure and the enterprises „Moldelectrica” will present, within 3 days, renewed proposals regarding the fastening of constructing and opening the interconnection lines with the electric power systems of Ukraine and Romania. Prime Minister Vasile Tarlev required this during the meeting where he has criticized the delay in implementing these projects.
According to the Government’s Press Service, the interconnection lines with the electric power systems of Ukraine and Romania - Balti-Novodnestrovsk, Romania, Balti-Suceava and Gotesti-Falciu – have the purpose to ensure the energy security of Moldova. „It is unacceptable to postone such major projects, especially when the Government obtained the support of the European Commission as well as the Romanian and Ukrainian authorities’ in implementing them,” the prime minister stated.
The Balti –Novodnestrovsc power line, with a capacity of 330 KV, has a length of 128 km, the costs of the works being estimated at 23.65 million dollars.
The construction works’ cost of the line Balti-Suceava, of 400 KV, with a length of 55 km, is up to 15 million euro, and the electric line of 110 KV Gotesti –Falciu, with a length of 28 km, will cost 3,5 million dollars.
The opening of the interconnection lines with the electric power systems of Ukraine and Romania is scheduled for 1 November 2007.
