The price of the most of “social importance” have returned to normal, stated first deputy premier Igor Dodon, presenting a note on the issue at the Government's sitting on June 11. According to the Info-Prim Neo agency, Dodon said, after monitoring the structure of the prices of products of social importance, carried out earlier in June by the state's law-enforcement bodies, the situation on the Moldovan market returned to normal. The Economy and Trade Minister (ETM), Igor Dodon, said the ETM created a viable mechanism to monitor the dynamics of the prices of the products from the category of socially important ones, the commercial addition to which is regulated by the state. According to the ETM's assessments, the sugar price is 11-12 lei/kg and observes the limit of allowed commercial addition. Larger than allowed additions have been discovered at some stores in the districts of Falesti and Calarasi, as the police probe those cases. The cement prices have also stabilized following imports, now staying at 2,000-2,100 lei/tonne on average. The meat prices still remain high because of the shortage, yet the Ministry forecasts the situation will soon improve. After modifying the list of socially-important goods, the commercial addition to which is established by the state, the ETM has started to monitor the structure of forming the prices of rice, buckwheat, other cereal grits, pasta. Sergiu Puscuta, the chief of the Anti-Corruption Center (ECCCC), informed that, from June 3 to 10, 152 commerce entities had been verified whether they legally established the commercial addition to the socially-important products. They discovered 36 commercial units selling sugar exceeding the commercial addition of 20%. Premier Zinaida Greceanai asked to set up two hot-lines for citizens to report unjustified price rises.
