President Maia Sandu announced that following discussions she had during her visit to Brussels, she signed the decree to initiate negotiations and authorize the signing of a financing agreement between the Republic of Moldova and the European Commission. This refers to the EU’s financial assistance aimed at alleviating the effects of the pandemic, IPN reports.
Under the agreement, €15 million will be donated for overcoming the health and economics crisis. “I signed this decree so as to make the provision of financing to the Republic of Moldova possible, given the absence of a Government with full powers. We will follow attentively the allocation of these funds. I thank the European Union for its continuous support for our citizens,” said President Sandu.
The decree provides that negotiations are opened on the draft financing agreement with the European Commission concerning the “COVID-19 Resilience Contract for the Republic of Moldova”. This also authorizes the signing of the agreement in a simplified form.
