All the candidates who took part in the second electoral debate organized by IPN News Agency said that they will be promoters of peace and guarantors of security. While some candidates highlighted the foreign policy, defense and security skills of the head of state, others underlined the need to strengthen the pro-justice, pro-citizens and pro-communion positions between ethnic groups and citizens, regardless of the political preferences of the future President.

Independent candidate Andrei Năstase said that he is known by public opinion for his past, for what he did for the country, for the fact that he constantly respected the Constitution and the laws of the country. From any position he held, he aimed to ensure legality, equity so that all citizens are equal before the law. He believes that his past showed that when it was difficult for the people of the Republic of Moldova, he was on the side of the citizens, compared to other candidates of all times who stole billions, who indulged in raider attacks.

“I have always stood by my people and I remain committed, I remain a president dedicated to them, dedicated to the people, dedicated to the country, dedicated to order, justice, well-being in our country,” said Andrei Năstase. The candidate noted that he is a man dedicated to family, faith, health, good education in the country and he supported and promoted harmony, peace and integration into the EU, in the interests of the citizens and less in foreign interests. According to him, he does not make many nice promises, but makes commitments that are firm for a European country that the people do not want to leave, where the people are respected and the state serves the people and not the other way around.

Independent candidate Tudor Ulyanovski said that, under the Constitution, the President of the Republic of Moldova has foreign and security policy competences and, in this regard, he believes that he is the most suitable for the position of President, given that he served as Minister of Foreign Affairs and has about 20 years of experience in the diplomatic field. The candidate characterized himself as a person who can negotiate with everyone and ensure that the Republic of Moldova is a state where peace and security dominate.

Tudor Ulyanovski noted that he can ensure the best foreign policy to attract the best investors to the Republic of Moldova, to develop the country’s economy. “I plead for a normal Moldova, a Moldova without extremes, a Moldova in which everyone wants to stay and live. I want to stop the exodus of the population from the Republic of Moldova so that we have children who are born more on the territory of the Republic of Moldova than outside our country,” stated the candidate. In his opinion, Moldova needs a person who knows how to talk to those from Transnistria, Gagauzia, northern Moldova, regardless of ethnicity, language, confession. “We need a new person on the political arena of the Republic of Moldova.”.

Adrian Albu, the representative of candidate Alexandru Stoianoglo, who is supported by the Party of Socialists of the Republic of Moldova, described Stoianoglo as a future President who comes from the people and is for the people. His slogan is “Justice for all” and this is also due to the fact that he served as a prosecutor and scored a number of victories in the prosecution service, imposed a moratorium on inspections that were excessive and suffocated national businesses and won victories for people who were intimidated by Moldovan politicians at the time.

According to Adrian Albu, Alexandr Stoianoglo is the person who always pleads for social equity regardless of ethnicity, language spoken or political preferences. “Alexandr Stoianoglo does not want the citizens of the Republic of Moldova to be labeled as pro-European, pro-CIS or pro-China because all citizens are from this state and must be united,” stated Adrian Albu said. He also said that Alexandr Stoianoglo was illegally removed from the position of prosecutor general because he aimed to show who the real beneficiaries of the billion theft are. He will not allow to be subdued by any political force.

The candidate’s representative also said that Alexandr Stoianoglo has a vast program that focuses on three basic pillars: the fight against corruption; the fight against depopulation; the modernization of the Republic of Moldova in all areas. As President, he will be the guarantor of security and will succeed in making Moldova a “hub of peace”.

This was the second of the series of debates entitled “Analyzing electoral demand and offers”, which are conducted by IPN News Agency as part of the project “A correct and informed vote for a European Moldova”, with support from the German Marshall Fund of the United States and the European Union.

The third debate, scheduled for Thursday, October 10, will involve Vasile Tarlev, nominated by the Party for the Future of Moldova, Ion Chicu, nominated by the Party for Development and Consolidation of Moldova, and Octavian Țîcu, candidate of the electoral bloc “Together”.
