President Vladimir Voronin has taken part in the celebrations that took place on August 27 in Chisinau dedicated to the 15th anniversary of the declaration of independence of the Republic of Moldova. According to the Presidential Press Service, the head of state has been present at the requiem organized by the Bishop of Chisinau and Moldova, Vladimir, and several priests at the Metropolitan Cathedral from Chisinau; this requiem has been dedicated to those who have lost their lives for the independence and the territorial integrity of the Republic of Moldova. Afterwards, Vladimir Voronin laid flowers at the Saint Stefan the Great monument and at the Monument of heroes fallen for the Independence and Integrity of Republic of Moldova from the “Eternitate” (“Eternity”) memorial complex. After the flowers were set down, the president held a speech on behalf of all the governments from the past 15 years of independence, in which he praised the persons that took part in the battles for territorial integrity. The head of state has also been present at the inauguration of the newly reconstructed Pantelimon Halippa Street and at the opening of a memorial stone dedicated to this famous political and literate personality. In continuation of the festive program, Voronin took part in the opening ceremony, subsequent to renewal, of Independence Street from Botanica district. During these festivities a ceremonial stone dedicated to 15 years of independence of the Republic of Moldova has been revealed and the “Columna lui Traian” stela has been instated. The head of state has also been present at the solemnity of installment of the first rock in the construction of the new central stadium on Renasterii Boulevard from Chisinau. It is planned that the venue will be finished in three years and will have a seating capacity of at least 30 thousand seats. Vladimir Voronin has also handed over birth certificates and honoring medals to 3 parents from 3 different regions of Moldova, whose children were born on August 27, in the Great National Assembly Square. The President has announced that he will forward a suggestion to the government to create a new institution that will handle all the problems related to the families, mothers and their children, so that every citizen of the Republic of Moldova will have proper assistance from the state right from the first day of their lives.
