President Maia Sandu encourages the citizens to get vaccinated against COVID-19. In a video, the official says any citizen of the county can get a free vaccine today, while vaccination will help the people return to normal living conditions, to work and to the dear ones, IPN reports.
“The most difficult day this year was when I handed over the Order of Honor to relatives of the 134 frontline doctors, nurses, ambulance drivers and physician assistants who died during the first year of the COVID-19 pandemic. It was very hard, even impossible to look into the eyes of the children who remained without mothers, of wives who remained without husbands, of parents who lost their children who died too early. I then thought that if we had had vaccine, I would have handed over this order not posthumously, but to living people who struggled heroically to save other lives. Hundreds and thousands of lives,” stated Maia Sandu.
She mentioned writer Nicolae Dabija, diplomat Valeriu Turea, folklorist Tudor Colac, journalist Antonina Sârbu and many other persons who left too early and who had so much creative potential and so many projects that waited to be completed.
Maia Sandu noted that different types of vaccine are now available and if need be, she will get vaccinated again, as other hundreds of thousands of citizens will do.
